About Anhad Didgeridoo Healing Academy

Anhad Didgeridoo Healing Academy is a Rishikesh-based sound healing and sound therapy education and training academy rooted in long-standing traditional knowledge, practical experience, and a contemporary, evidence-informed approach to sound.

At the heart of the Academy is Mr. Prakash, a master craftsman and sound practitioner with more than 28 years of experience in making, playing, teaching, and exploring the didgeridoo and Native American flute. His journey with these instruments is part of a broader family legacy of approximately 40 years of traditional instrument craftsmanship. Over the years, Prakash has dedicated himself to the practical understanding of sound, vibration, breath, instruments, and their experiential dimensions, while sharing this knowledge with students and practitioners in India and internationally.

Alongside this deep practical and traditional foundation is the work of Dr. Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Co-Founder and Lead Educator of the Academy. With an academic background in biological and environmental sciences, Bharat brings a scientific and objective perspective to the study and teaching of sound. His approach seeks to understand sound and sound-based practices through both traditional knowledge and contemporary scientific understanding, including areas such as human biology, perception, acoustics, nervous-system responses, and the ways in which sound may influence human experience and wellbeing.

The strength of Anhad lies in bringing these two perspectives together: traditional practical knowledge and cultural heritage on one side, and scientific, evidence-informed understanding on the other. We believe that meaningful sound education can respect traditional wisdom while also encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, responsible practice, and a clear understanding of what is known, what is experienced, and what continues to be explored.

The Academy offers a variety of educational and training programmes, ranging from Sound Healing Practitioner Courses and Teacher Training programmes to specialised workshops and advanced training. Our programmes include training with didgeridoo, Native American flute, singing bowls, gongs, and other therapeutic sound instruments, as well as specialised instrument-crafting and online learning programmes.

Our educational approach is experiential, practical, reflective, and grounded in responsible practice. We focus on developing knowledge, practical skills, confidence, and an informed understanding of sound-based practices rather than making exaggerated medical or therapeutic claims.

Based in Rishikesh, India, Anhad Didgeridoo Healing Academy welcomes learners from different parts of the world through in-person and online education. Our aim is to preserve and share valuable traditional knowledge while developing a thoughtful, contemporary approach to sound education that is accessible to students, practitioners, teachers, and anyone interested in exploring the possibilities of sound.
